Opening event for the RyTHM project
Funded by Interreg IPA CBC “Greece-Albania 2014-2020”
The opening event of the project cross-border cooperation “RyTHM-fostering creativity and interconnection of cultural goods through historical monuments/Fostering Creativity and Connecting Cultural Assets through Monuments» was successfully held on 8 February 2019, in Corfu.
The event was organized by the Ephorate of Antiquities of Corfu, Lead Beneficiary of the project. The aim of the event was to present to the local community and the general public the project and the actions implemented in its framework. The event was attended by representatives from the Municipal and Regional Theater of Corfu (DI.P.TH.HE. – KED.K.) and the Municipality of Finiq, which complete the project partnership.
During the event the Director of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Corfu, Ms. Diamanto Rigakou, the Mayor of the Municipality of Finiq, Mr. Leonidas Christos, and the representatives of the Municipal and Regional Theatre of Corfu, Ms. Barbara Dukas, artistic director and Mr. Damianos Cheirdaris, presented the project and its objectives. The Director of Ionian Islands Tourism Director, Mr. Kostas Tsoumanis, carried out a specialized presentation on the interconnection of cultural activities with tourism. The importance of implementing cross-border projects was also highlited by the Mayor of Corfu, Mr Konstantinos Nikolouzos and the Vice-Governor of primary sector, networks and international relationships of the Region of Ionian Islands, Mr. Ioannis Fontanas.
The project is financed for €651,620.00 RyTHM under Priority axis 2-“Boosting the local economy” of the cross-border Cooperation Programme IPA CBC II “Greece-Albania 2014-2020” and aims at the promotion of cooperation between cultural operators for the enhancement of important cultural existing infrastructure and capabilities, which are the monuments.
